Ana Rosa Quintana’s powerful message on World Breast Cancer Day: “Overcoming the fear of the word cancer is the first step to cure”

This Thursday marks World Breast Cancer Day, the most common day among women and which affects younger women every year. Ana Rosa Quintanawho has been fighting this disease for two years now, wanted to send an emotional message to all those who, like her, have been or will be diagnosed: “Overcoming the fear of that word is the first step to healing.”

“There is a word that is terrifying, and it is cancer. Until recently it was a taboo word that only the doctor pronounced, you kept it to your chest and never used it. Only euphemisms were used, fortunately society has banished the fear of pronounce it,” he began. “There are dozens of women who will hear ‘breast cancer’ in a consultation. I heard those words two years ago and from the beginning I knew that there are no words that should be avoided.”

Ana Rosa appeals to hope and unity to defeat the disease: “We have science, medicine, love, hope, friends and thousands of women on our side. You are not alone. We are going to unite because we don’t even want to. “We must be alone. Overcoming the fear of that word is the first step to healing.”
