La Vuelta creates a jersey to reward solidarity and support Bicicletas Sin Fronteras

MADRID, 21 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

In its 78th edition, the Vuelta a España will have a new jersey that will reward the cyclist with the most supportive attitudes, and will have the charitable purpose of helping the NGO Bicicletas Sin Fronteras to offer bicycles as sustainable school transport to vulnerable children and young people in Senegal, according to a statement.

“When they told us about this project, we immediately wanted to see ourselves involved to promote gestures of solidarity in the peloton and, above all, to collaborate in the magnificent initiatives that Bicicletas Sin Fronteras is developing in Senegal,” explained the general director of La Vuelta on Monday, Javier Guillen.

At each stage, a group of journalists present at the race will choose the winner, who will not wear the jersey produced by Santini, technical sponsor of the race, during the race. The solidarity jersey will be on sale for all fans who want to wear it and thus support the work of the Spanish NGO Bicicletas Sin Fronteras, a solidarity collaborator of the Spanish round.

“This jersey will not serve to distinguish the fastest riders in each stage or the most consistent, but rather those who believe in a better world, and who know that the important thing is not to win, but that we all win,” declared the ideologue and creative director of this initiative, Jorge Martínez.
