Bagnaia achieves his fifth ‘pole’ of the year in MotoGP in Spielberg

MADRID, 19 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian rider Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) achieved this Saturday the ‘pole position’ for the MotoGP races at the Austrian Grand Prix, tenth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, while Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) was the best of the Spanish thanks to his second position on the grid.

Thanks to his best time of 1:28.539 at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Bagnaia obtained the best place among the 12 drivers who competed in Q2. To complete this list, previously from Q1 the Australian Jack Miller (KTM) and the Italian Luca Marini (Ducati) had qualified, screening the Spanish Pol Espargaró (KTM) by 0.175.

His compatriot Marc Márquez, surrounded these days by a possible team change if his performance does not improve with Repsol Honda, was also left out in Q1 and confirmed his bitterness in the Styria region. Thus, he could not get into the fight with those who are being the ‘cocks’ this season with the largest displacement in the championship.

Bagnaia, leader of the general classification in this World Cup, exhibited reliability and collected his fifth ‘pole’ of the year after those achieved in Austin, Le Mans, Mugello and Sachsenring. On this occasion, behind him, a Viñales with good performance passed the checkered flag and was 0.037 behind the privileged position.
