MADRID, 5 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Argentine tennis player Sebastián Báez won the ATP 250 category tournament in Kitzbühel (Austria) on Saturday, beating Austrian Dominic Thiem 6-3, 6-1 in the final.
Báez prevailed over the local idol, a Thiem depleted by injuries since winning the US Open in 2020, to win his third ATP title, all in the last year. The Argentine passed over a Thiem who seemed out of battery after saving five match points in the semifinals the previous day.
The Austrian, who was looking to savor glory again three years later and for the second time at home after 2019, took the heat from his audience but the trophy was left with authority by Báez who only had to face two balls of ‘break’, already with the second set on track.
