Aday Mara says goodbye to Zaragoza to go to the United States

MADRID, 2 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish center Aday Mara said goodbye to Casademont Zaragoza this Wednesday to go to the United States and “be able to combine” his “personal and academic development at an American university” with his “sports development at the highest level”.

Mara, one of the current great promises of national basketball at the age of 18, had already shown at the end of May her decision to “unilaterally terminate her contract” with the Endesa League team to go to the United States.

The Maño team respected her decision but assured that Mara had all the means available “to develop her complete academic, sports and human training.” In addition, the whole of the ACB affirmed that the contracts should be “respected”.

However, the young Spanish center posted a farewell letter on his social networks. “After eight years in this family, the time has come to part ways. It has been a very difficult decision to make since Basket Zaragoza has been the club in which I have grown up and which has allowed me to meet incredible people who have helped shape me as a player and as a person”, he says.

“For this reason I would like to thank everyone who has shared my path over the years. To all the coaches, physical trainers, delegates and physios. To my teammates, for helping me to be a better player in each training session. To all the staff who work at the Príncipe Felipe with whom I have always been able to talk and share fun moments. And of course the fans”, he adds.

Mara points to a complicated but necessary decision. “It has been a complicated decision because I am leaving home, I am moving away from my parents, my family, my friends and all for one reason only: to be able to combine my personal and academic development at an American university with my sporting development at the highest level,” he says.

“This year has been a dream come true for me. I’ve played in the team that I was going to see every weekend and I’ve shared the changing room and court with players that I admit and watched on television when I was little. I wish the best for the my city’s team and all its fans”, he ends.
