Sainz: “Seeing the opportunity there was, we have lost many points”

MADRID, 30 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) stated this Sunday, after his poor performance during the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix, that “seeing the opportunity that was available” for his team at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, they had “lost many points due to his abandonment.

“Unfortunately, he had been in the car for too many years, he was losing 3 or 4 seconds per lap and it was not worth continuing,” Sainz analyzed his accident at the start of the race for DAZN. “We have waited for the rain… but well, a pity. Besides, seeing how the car was going and the opportunity that there was today, we have lost many points”, he lamented.

In this sense, the Madrid driver stressed that he would have “been in the fight” for the podium. “Sure, but it is what it is”, he resigned himself. “A pity because in turn 1 here there is very little to gain and much to lose, and that this has happened to us is a chore,” insisted the Ferrari man.

Finally, Sainz admitted that “the plan is to reset” during the imminent break that the World Cup will take in August. “I think we all need a bit of a ‘reset’ and come back stronger in the second part of the year,” concluded the man from Madrid in his interview.
