MADRID, 24 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s inline hockey team won the absolute European Championship title on Monday, second for their record, thanks to their 1-0 victory over the French team in the final of a tournament that was held in Charleroi (Belgium).

The Spanish players, current world champions, thus added their second consecutive European Championship at the senior level. To get this new twist, during the group stage they had beaten the invited Namibia 1-9, the United Kingdom 15-0 and Finland 6-2.

In the knockout phase, Ángel Ruiz’s pupils got rid of Ireland in the quarterfinals (9-0) and Italy in the semifinals (3-0), thus planting themselves in the gold medal match. And thanks to their narrow victory against the French, they lifted another continental title.

On the other hand, at the same venue in Charleroi, the Spanish men’s team won the European Championship in the junior category this Monday. After beating Slovakia 3-1 in the semi-finals, Spain also defeated France 3-1 in the final, claiming gold.
