Valero, Mantecón and Rocío García lead the Spanish MTB team for the Glasgow World Cup

The riders David Valero, bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Sergio Mantecón and Rocío García lead the Spanish team for the MTB World Championship in Glasgow, which will take place from August 3 to 12 of the World Championship, announced the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC).

Glasgow will group the World Championship of all cycling disciplines, with the exception of cyclocross, in 10 days. The Downhill World Championship, to be held in Fort Williams, will take place from August 3 to 5. The national MTB coaches, Mikel Zabala and Anna Villar, have chosen Zoe Zamora, Ángel Suárez and Pau Menoyo for the elite downhill events; while in the juniors Kira Zamora, María Pomés, Daniel Castellanos and Ignacio García will run.

The XC Marathon World Championship will arrive on August 6 with a course in Glentress Forest, 96.5 kilometers and 3,200 meters of altitude. Meritxell Figueras, Sergio Mantecón and Roberto Bou will be the three Spanish cyclists.

The Cross Country will start on August 8 and its program will include Short Track, E-Bikes and Team Relay, in addition to the XCO races themselves. From August 8 to 10, the Short Track qualifiers and finals, the E-Bikes competition and the Team Relay will be held.

The junior XCO races will also take place on August 10, while the XCO sub-23 and elite events will take place on August 11 and 12, respectively.

The junior category riders who will come to Glasgow to compete in the XCO specialty will be Marta Cano, Neus Capella, Hugo Franco, Joan Mir, Martí Carillo and Carlos Gámez, while in the under-23 category the national representatives will be Lucía Gómez, Estíbaliz Sagardoy, Francesc Barber and Alberto Barroso.

Olympic and world medalist David Valero will once again lead the elite team, which will also include Jofre Cullel, David Campos, Pablo Rodríguez, Rocío García, already recovered from her clavicle fracture, and Nuria Bosch. Finally, the Spanish representative in the E-Bikes test will be Gabriel Torralba.
