Spain beats Italy and meets Germany in the quarterfinals of the European

The Spanish men’s roller hockey team defeated Italy (4-7) on Wednesday and met Germany this Thursday in the quarterfinal match of the European Championship that is taking place in the municipality of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia (Barcelona).

Spain achieved a hard-fought victory against the Italian team to be second in Group A and ensure a priori a more affordable rival in search of the semifinals. Guillem Cabestany’s men closed the first phase with victory after the draws against France and Portugal, arriving at the moment of truth in tune.

The hosts, reigning champions and in search of their 19th continental title, found themselves behind at the opening score, but it didn’t take long to get to work to achieve a brilliant comeback from 1-4 en route to half-time.

The goals were scored by Marc Grau, a double, César Carballeira, Marc Julià, Nil Roca and another double by Sergi Aragonés, who excelled in the victorious clasp for the champion. For its part, Germany finished the initial phase thrashed, with a 9-3 win against Switzerland.
