MADRID, 6 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) has prevailed in the sixth stage of the 110th edition of the Tour de France, disputed over 145 kilometers between Tarbes and Cauterets-Cambasque, after leaving behind the new leader, the Danish Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo Visma), in the final ascent.
The stage changed on the ascent to Tourmalet, 48 kilometers from the finish line, where first a block attack by Jumbo broke the race and then the Dane attacked to leave ahead together with the Slovenian and catch up with the escapees. Among them was Wout Van Aert (Jumbo Visma), who pulled the group up to the final climb, where Pogacar attacked and went solo to victory.
At the finish line, Pogacar was ahead by 24 seconds, and the 4 bonus, over the yellow jersey, Vingegaard, leader with 25 seconds ahead of the Slovenian. Third is the leader until this Thursday, the Australian Jay Hindley (Bora Hansgrohe), at 1:34. The Spanish Carlos Rodríguez (INEOS Grenadiers), seventh in the stage at 2:39, is fifth at 3:30 behind Vingegaard.
