TeamViewer, the ‘competitive advantage’ of the Mercedes team at the F1 Grand Prix

MADRID, 5 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The data provider company TeamViewer has improved the performance of the Formula 1 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS by providing data during free practice and qualifying for Grand Prix, something the German team uses to have a ‘competitive advantage’ over its rivals .

TeamViewer has engineers both on the track and at the factory, in the so-called Race Support Room (RSR), in order to provide instant access to data, videos and telemetry. This is crucial to determine the race strategy, helping the communication between engineers and drivers when making decisions throughout the Grand Prix.

“During practice, it is important to give the driver the right information at the right time. TeamViewer has improved our way of working on the track and communicating with the driver,” said Riccardo Musconi, Head of Trackside Performance.

In this way, TeamViewer has solved old problems of the team such as the security of the software, which made it difficult for the pilots to obtain accurate and real-time data. For this reason, Mercedes has resorted to this tool for the transmission of data through drop-down screens in the garage.

This happens thanks to the Tensor platform that offers professional remote connectivity with security, scalability and manageability. Thus, it allows engineers to provide drivers with fast and fully reliable access to live data during free practice and qualifying sessions such as weather updates, race plans, strategic perspectives or competition analysis.

“Given the pace of race weekends, any technological implementation must be able to keep up. Even a second’s delay in the drivers’ access to the data they need between races could affect the entire race.” weekend,” said Peter Turner, TeamViewer’s commercial director.

TeamViewer’s remote connectivity solution makes every decision based on accurate and up-to-date information, improving the team’s strategy for each race.
