MADRID, 5 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) will receive a subsidy to promote sports practice in public reception centers for applicants for international protection and migrants, as approved by the Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.
The grant, of 1.5 million euros until 2026, will allow the collaboration of the COE in the design of plans to achieve a better use of sports spaces and the promotion of the use of sports facilities both by residents of the centers host as well as the residents of the areas where they are located.
In addition, the COE will collaborate in the design of training plans and programs and will select former elite athletes as ambassadors of each of the centers, as announced by the COE in an official statement.
After the signing in December of a collaboration agreement between the COE and the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations to promote the sports integration of the people welcomed, the Ministry undertook to build facilities and spaces to reinforce the practice of sports in the centers of the system, with the aim of promoting the integration of those received in the towns where the centers are located.
