MADRID, 4 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish athlete Óscar Husillos, European champion on the 400-meter indoor track in 2021, will participate in the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Madrid, which will take place on July 22 at the Vallehermoso Stadium in the Spanish capital.
The man from Palencia, who in February broke the Spanish record of 400 meters indoors (45.58) and touched the medals in the European Championship in Istanbul -fourth in individual and in the relay-, has not missed a single edition of the Madrid Meeting since the reopening of Vallehermoso in 2019.
Thus, he finished fifth in the last two years and sixth in 2019. A year earlier, still on the Moratalaz track, he achieved the second Spanish mark in history with 44.73, still his best personal record.
Among his main rivals in the 400 are his compatriot Iñaki Cañal, who made a personal best (45.51) in the Silesian European team; the Jamaican Zandrion Barnes, who this year has run in 44.90; the Japanese Yuki Joseph Nakajima -45.15-; the Swiss Ricky Petrucciani, runner-up in Europe in 2022 with 45.03; the Italian record holder Davide Re (44.77); and the Belgian Dylan Borlée, who accumulates 12 international medals.
