The COE and the Ministry of Education sign an agreement for the promotion of Olympic values

The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training have signed a four-year collaboration agreement on Tuesday to promote Olympic values, emphasizing the prevention of violence, the management of coexistence and the promotion of active life and healthy lifestyle habits within primary education and secondary education, according to a statement.

The new agreement, for the next four years with the possibility of extending two more, has been signed at the headquarters of the Ministry by the president of the COE, Alejandro Blanco, and the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría. With the signature, both parties undertake to “schedule plans and develop actions in relation to the creation of educational materials, teacher training and the promotion of activities to promote sports in schools”, which they consider “three axes fundamentals”.

This new collaboration causes the COE to participate “actively” in the creation and dissemination of quality educational materials to promote Olympic values. Through the “development of training actions that train the educational community for the transversal inclusion of these values, coexistence and an active and healthy life”.

In addition, it will design strategies to “promote the practice of physical activity and sport in schools” with the aim of “preventing health problems”. Just as it will carry out “programs in educational environments to promote the values ​​of Olympism.”

For its part, the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training will collaborate with the COE in the creation and dissemination of quality educational materials to promote Olympic values; it will work on the training and training of teachers in matters of Olympism, school coexistence and healthy active lifestyles; and will promote healthy leisure and the promotion of these values ​​through activities in educational centers.
