Joselu: “It was missing that a ball entered and I have been there mischievously”

MADRID, 15 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish soccer player Joselu Mato affirmed this Thursday that the game of Spain against Italy only needed “a ball to enter” to certify the victory in the semifinals of the League of Nations, and that he was “mischievous” to subtly finish off the definitive 2-1 in the final minutes.

“It consisted of faith. I think the whole team had a great game, we dominated in the second half. A ball was missing and I was there mischievously, waiting to see what would happen with that shot by Rodri”, commented Joselu after the game match, played in Enschede (Netherlands), before the microphones of RTVE.

“I was confident that it wasn’t offside, that an Italian defender was coming out. Super happy because we’re in a final and because I think we’ve done everything to deserve it,” added the Spanish team striker, who scored the winning goal at 88′.

In this sense, he said that “soccer has these things”. “In the end, when the goals count, they count. I think we have taken advantage until the last moment and that we have been deserving of the victory. Super proud of the work that the team has done”, he insisted on the matter.

“There is a lot of talk, the press is very difficult. At this point, when a team like Italy is up against you, you have to win and Spain is a favourite. I think I’m very repetitive, but we played a very complete game”, Joselu reiterated about the role of the ‘Red’ in this League of Nations, whose title will be played next Sunday against Croatia.

Lastly, the current RCD Espanyol striker dodged the question about his possible signing for Real Madrid, in view of the imminent summer recruitment market. “Now I am enjoying here a lot, today is a day to enjoy to the fullest. My family has come from afar and I want to enjoy this to the fullest,” he concluded.
