Einer Rubio crowns Crans Montana in another bland stage at the Giro

MADRID, 19 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Colombian cyclist Einer Rubio (Movistar Team) won the shortened and insipid thirteenth stage of the Giro d’Italia this Friday, finally between Le Chable and Crans Montana over 74.6 kilometers, by taking advantage of the battle between his breakaway teammates Thibaut Pinot (Groupama- FDJ) and Jefferson Alexander Cepeda (EF Education-EasyPost).

Pinot and Cepeda engaged in a dialectical battle, with continuous attacks and counterattacks, which caused them to run out of energy. Rubio, for his part, stayed on the sidelines, he was diesel and, when he saw a gap, he attacked with everything to seat the Frenchman and the Ecuadorian and achieve the first victory for Movistar in this Giro, in his second victory of the year.

From behind, among the men of the general, nothing. And it has been the tonic in this Giro d’Italia marked by rain, cold, casualties, falls and withdrawals due to coronavirus. Despite the fact that the stage, shortened, could be explosive, the leader Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers) did not have to respond to any attack and the applicants arrived in a group.
