The Valencia Women’s Race displays a giant pink ribbon

A 50-meter banner with a pink ribbon covered a large part of the 8,000 participating runners this Sunday at the start of the Valencia Women’s Race in support of women’s sport.

The capital of Turia saw its streets taken over by running and the color pink with the spectacular display of a giant pink bow, in an initiative of Banco Santander, sponsor of the event.

The second appointment of the national circuit signed a new success of participation and follow-up, with a multitude of activities throughout the weekend, both at the Runner’s Fair and during this same Sunday in celebration of the race.

At the start of the race there was an emotional tribute to Valencia CF Femenino, with the athlete María Martí as its ambassador, representing the club.

This year, the organization of the Women’s Race wanted to choose soccer to give visibility to women in this sport, coinciding with the creation of the soccer doll within the #MasqueUnaMuñeca collection, sewn by hand by women victims of exploitation trafficking sexual and labor as part of the collaboration project with Proyecto Esperanza and Wanawake.

In sporting terms, the athlete Carmen Amaro was the first to cross the finish line next to the Paseo Marítimo after covering the 6.5 kilometers of the circuit in 24:16, ahead of Emma Lacal (24:38), Essie Amery (24:56 ), Alba López (24:58) and Ana Amaro (25:05).
