Almodóvar’s request to his brother Agustín not to do this after his death: “I have told him”

Pedro Almodóvar is in full promotion on the occasion of the launch of his 208-page autobiography, the last dream, which was published on April 13. The work of the director, who was born on September 25, 1949 in Calzada de Calatrava, is made up of twelve stories that review his life: from his “dark school years” to mature age.

During these days, the man from La Mancha reflects on his life and, in an interview in To live from Cadena Ser, has revealed the request that he has made to his brother, the film producer Agustín Almodóvar: “I have already told my brother Agustín in the event that he disappears before him: biopics about me are prohibited” .

The Oscar-winning filmmaker has his reasons: “Firstly because I am very bored with myself as a subject, enough to spend many months or hours talking to someone. And then also out of modesty.”

At 73, he also thinks about the end, which sooner or later will come to him, like all mortals: “I wonder how long I have left to live, in what conditions am I going to live it, how many movies am I going to make. I also ask if the last film I make will continue to be a film, as up to now, in which I recognize myself in the good and the bad”.

Director of Everything about my mother o Return premieres in May his new film, strange way of lifewhich comes to the big screen after the success of pain and glory (his film autobiography) in 2019 and parallel mothers in 2021, both with Oscar nominations. Once again, Pedro, Antonio Banderas and Penélope Cruz once again brought Spanish cinema to the top.
