Mallorca smiles again in Balaídos and takes a step towards permanence

MADRID, 17 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

RCD Mallorca returned to the path of victory and added three vital points in its objective of sealing its permanence for another season in LaLiga Santander after beating Celta 0-1 at Balaídos, in the game that closed this Monday the twenty-ninth day of the championship.

Javier Aguirre’s team put an end to six games without winning with a solid victory in Vigo, where they also ended a losing streak without winning at home since last November 6 thanks in large part to their defensive ability, with which they almost frustrated all the attempts of Carlos Carvalhal’s men, who despite their siege in the second half, put an end to seven games without losing.

The best chances in the first 45 minutes were vermillion, all with the same protagonist, Amath Ndiaye. The visitors started the match better and, after a quarter of an hour, the Senegalese striker failed to define the best way for his one-on-one against Iván Villar after a great pass from Kang-in Lee.

Mallorca knew how to control the local attacks well, with the promising Gabri Veiga and Miguel Rodríguez together in the eleven, and took the lead a few minutes later when Amath sent a loose ball into the net in the area after an indecision at the start between the goalkeeper and Unai Núñez.

The 0-1 lead to Celta, who launched themselves more vigorously towards Rajkovic’s goal, but without much success in the final meters. His rival, on the other hand, was able to land another blow on another occasion for Amath in the final stretch towards the break.

Carvalhal opted for attack after passing through the locker room and tested it with all his attacking players, but the Balearic team resisted well, although they entrenched themselves closer to their area and spread less towards the ‘blue’ area. Even so, Muriqi and Hadzikadunic enjoyed two good options with headers.

Celta increased the intensity for the final stretch of the game and Renato Tapia then had the best opportunity to equalize, with a great shot that repelled the crossbar. Rajokovic did not experience any more difficulties and Mallorca took three points to stand with 37, one more than his rival, who finished with ten due to the final expulsion of Hugo Mallo.
