For Don Felipe and Doña Letizia, Leonor’s military career is “very convenient and valuable”

At the General Military Academy of the Army, Zaragoza, in August. In the released statement, the words “demand” and “sacrifice” are valued in military life and also “honor”, which means for the Princess to train and serve alongside the men and women of the Armed Forces.

The King and Queen consider that the military training of the Princess of Asturias is “very convenient and valuable”. Add the institutional note that this stage “reinforces service and delivery capabilities” and also “facilitates the representation tasks that it must assume” as heir to the Crown of Spain, as provided in Title II of the Constitution.

Military education is reflected in point five of the statement, in which there is an express record of the fundamental values ​​that Leonor will receive: “Loyalty, discipline, courage, camaraderie and principles such as responsibility, exemplarity or austerity”. A 360º technical and human training, “very complete and adequate” to guarantee the commitment to permanent service to Spanish society.

There will be three courses in the three military academies: one for each Army and Navy. Thus, the script of the experience acquired by Don Felipe will be followed. Leonor will start at the end of this summer and will end three years later.

Lady-Cadet in Zaragoza. According to the statement from the Casa del Rey, the training period will begin in August 2023 in the Army, “and will take place during the 2023-2024 academic year at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza (…) He will join this Academy with the employment of Lady-Cadet”.

Midshipman, in the Navy. In 2024-2025 he will enter the Navy and will develop it with the employment of a Midshipman. He will be at the Marín Naval Military School, as well as on board the Juan Sebastián de Elcano Training Ship on an instructional trip.

Ensign Student, in San Javier. The Princess will complete her third year in the Air and Space Army at the San Javier General Air Academy. She will start the 2025-2026 academic year as Ensign Student.
