AFE and Movement against Intolerance ask to bring together the Observatory of Violence, Racism and Xenophobia

MADRID, 23 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Association of Spanish Soccer Players (AFE) and the Movement Against Intolerance have requested “by different means the urgent call” of a plenary meeting of the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport and the Observatory of Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport, as confirmed by the union on Thursday.

AFE and Movement Against Intolerance, members of these organizations, warn that they consider it necessary to call a meeting “with the aim of supporting the fight against this scourge in sport with concrete and joint initiatives.” “Actions in which all the parties involved must be involved, State Security Forces and Corps, sports institutions, autonomous communities, etc,” he added.

The union chaired by David Aganzo recalled that, “a few days ago”, he already sent a communication “to the director of the Cabinet of the Minister of the Interior for this purpose”, since it is this ministry and the Ministry of Culture and Sports “that, alternately every six months, they hold the presidency”. “By holding it now Culture and Sports, the Interior referred us to the Higher Sports Council (CSD) to make the request, which AFE did immediately,” he clarified.

In this sense, the association confirmed that it held a meeting with Fernando Molinero, the new general director of Sports of the CSD, to which he insisted “on the importance of calling the plenary session and the observatory.” In addition, AFE and Movement against Intolerance have sent a letter this week to José Manuel Franco, president of the CSD, to show “their concern for him about the growing wave of racism, violence and intolerance in the field of sport.”

The AFE stressed that a few days ago it sealed an agreement with the Movement Against Intolerance to work together against racism, xenophobia and violence in the world of football and against any hate crime that occurs on a pitch, stands or other scenario.
