The Japanese Nikken Sekkei, ‘Design Guardian’ of the Spotify Camp Nou

BARCELONA, 13 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona has appointed the Japanese architecture studio Nikken Sekkei as ‘Design Guardian’ of the new Spotify Camp Nou, a jewel of the ‘Espai Barça’, so that the Japanese can guarantee the continuity of the initial concept of the project they designed.

“The Japanese architecture studio will guarantee the continuity of the initial concept when working on solutions so that the new proposals are integrated into the execution of the project in a balanced way,” explained the Blaugrana club.

Nikken Sekkei, in collaboration with Pascual and Ausió Arquitectes, were the winners of the contest to design the new Spotify Camp Nou in 2016.

Now, the studio is incorporated as guardian of the design of the remodeling project of the future Spotify Camp Nou. Among their functions, on the one hand, they will supervise the design team appointed by the club, the joint venture formed by Torrella Arquitectura-Ingeniería and JG Ingenieros, in clarifying the doubts that they express in relation to the basic project that has already been presented.

They will also supervise two aspects: the bulk of the drafting work of the Execution Project, as well as the Technical Assistance to the Work of the technical team that Limak will provide. In this way, the advice of Nikken Sekkei will be key to maintaining the essence of the initial winning concept.
