MADRID, 7 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Alfa Romeo launched its new car for the 2023 Formula 1 season on Tuesday, the C43, as an evolution of its predecessor with “key” changes, mainly to its rear, in addition to a new ‘livery’ with red and black colors as protagonists.
The new car from the Hinwil team was presented in Switzerland, where the team from the Sauber Group, the team’s motorist, is based, with big changes to the rear, including a new gearbox, rear suspension and cooling system.
“I am very proud of what we have achieved in these last few months, because creating a new car is always a big effort for the team. This car is an evolution from last year, reflecting the new regulations and introducing key changes in the areas where we consider improvements were needed,” explained Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake technical director Jan Monchaux.
From the team he wished that this C43 is “faster” than the Alfa Romeo of 2022 and that its reliability is higher, where they have focused their main “efforts”. “Now is the time to get to the track and see how it behaves. I am happy to return to racing and I am confident that soon we will give much more of ourselves,” he added, in statements published by Alfa Romeo.
For his part, the general manager of the Sauber Group, Alessandro Alunni, showed “great pride” when seeing the design of the C43 and thanked the “support” and passion” of all the team’s fans who were waiting for the new car. “Our new single-seater is the result of months of work, but today is just the beginning of a journey. We must continue to work hard, with humility and dedication, to bring performance to the track. We are all committed and confident that we will reap the fruits of our labor,” he predicted.
Alfa Romeo drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu will get into this new C43 for the first time in pre-season testing from February 23-25 in Bahrain, where the 2023 season will also kick off on March 5. “I like our new livery, I think it’s impressive and a good evolution from last year. It’s been an interesting first season with the team, we’ve made pretty solid progress together, and now there’s only one direction to go: up , higher and better”, valued the Finn.
“We’ll be sporting a beautiful new livery for 2023. Last year the team made me feel at home from the get-go, the expectation for this season is definitely higher. I’m excited for what’s to come and fully ready to attack.” Zhou said.
Next season will be the last for the Sauber-Alfa Romeo alliance, as the team will receive Ferrari power units in a transition period between 2024 and 2025, before Audi becomes its driver from 2026, when the manufacturer German enter Formula 1.
