This Friday, the footballer, married to the Spanish model Joana Sanz, has appeared at the Les Corts Barcelona police station to testify for an alleged crime of sexual assault on December 30. The Brazilian has been arrested, interrogated and taken to the cells of the Mossos d’Esquadra pending the magistrate’s decision, which has finally been the worst for Alves.

The reasons that have motivated the entry into prison of the Brazilian are the seriousness of the crime denounced as well as a series of inconsistencies that the agents have detected in the footballer’s statements. Also the forcefulness of the doctors in the report that the victim has presented and that was made to him the night of the events.

He pleads not guilty: “My God!”

It all happened on December 30 at the Suttons nightclub in Barcelona, when Joana Sanz’s husband was having fun with a group of friends. One of them accused him of having abused her in her bathrooms, a fact that was reported to the local security as soon as the footballer left the premises. The Mossos attended her that same night, although the complaint was formalized a few days later.

Alves has confirmed that he was at the scene but denies everything else: “Yes, I was in that place, with more people. Enjoying. And who knows me knows that I love to dance. I was dancing and enjoying without invading the space of the others,” he explained very seriously. “I don’t know who that lady is. You get to a bathroom and you don’t have to ask who’s there. I’ve never invaded a space. How am I going to do it with a woman or a girl? No, for God’s sake.”
