Brentford also surprises Liverpool

MADRID, 2 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Brentford has reconfirmed its status as ‘giant-killer’ in the Premier League after beating Liverpool (3-1) on Monday on matchday 19 of the competition, a result that cuts the triumphant streak for Jürgen Klopp’s men.

Only Arsenal (0-3) have prevented the plenary against the ‘Big Six’ and have escaped the sting of the ‘bees’, who this season have already beaten Manchester United (4-0) and Manchester City (1 -2) and have drawn with Tottenham (2-2) and Chelsea (0-0).

With international David Raya in goal, Brentford took the lead after Ibrahima Konaté inadvertently slotted the ball into his own net on 19 minutes following a corner.

Before the break, the Congolese Yoane Wissa increased the score for the local team, and although Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain cut the gap with his head at the restart (min.50), the Cameroonian Bryan Mbeumo was in charge of tying the victory by finishing successfully a counterattack (min.84).

In this way, the ‘reds’ interrupt a streak of four consecutive victories in the domestic competition, in which they are sixth (28) two points behind the European zone. Those of Thomas Frank (26), for their part, have accumulated six consecutive days scoring.
