United advance to the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup on their return to competition

MADRID, 22 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Manchester United passed this Wednesday to the quarterfinals of the English Carabo Cup, the League Cup, after defeating (2-0) Burnley in the second division, thanks to goals from Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford, in the second leg to the competition of the ‘Red Devils’ after the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

The team led by Erik ten Hag, now without Cristiano Ronaldo in their discipline after terminating his contract, but with the return of some of their World Cup players such as Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes or Antony, managed to prevail without problems against a lower-class rival. Thus, a few minutes after the half hour of play, Eriksen took advantage of a good ball from Wan-Bissaka to open the scoring and put the match back on track.

Vincent Kompany’s men tried with some dangerous chance, but United’s offensive potential ended up tipping the scales in favor of Manchester’s. Already in the second part, the ‘red’ team increased the advantage with Marcus Rashford. The English forward started a counter in his own field and already in the area he crossed it for the final 2-0.

The next game for the ‘Red Devils’ will be against Nottingham Forest, next Tuesday, December 27, in the return of the Premier League after the World Cup break.
