Leo Messi made more history than ever this Sunday by being crowned world champion with the Argentine National Team after an agonizing final against France. During the celebration, numerous images of the sports star have gone around the world. The comparisons are odious but it is impossible that the photograph of him in flight does not remind us of that of Diego Armando Maradona raising the cup of 86 in Mexico.

The tunic that he wore to raise the glass also drew attention, a Qatari garment called Besht that is reserved for great occasions and that was given to him by the emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Of course, there was no lack of the image in the field celebrating the achievement with his wife, Antonela Roccuzzoand their three children, Mateo, Ciro y Thiago.

Days later and in full ‘hangover’ from the victory in the World Cup in Qatar 2022, the Barça legend has surprised his followers with some fun images on his Instagram profile. In one of them she appears in bed hugging the trophy. In another photo, she smiles at the camera, boasting of her great feat and that of her teammates, who already have the third star embroidered on their albiceleste shirt. “Good morning, my love,” Roccuzzo replied under the photo. In the third photo, to make it even more mythical, she appears drinking an Argentine mate.

Leo’s message

Also this Tuesday, Messi has shared on his social networks an exciting text about the historic victory: “From Grandoli to the World Cup in Qatar, almost 30 years have passed. There were nearly three decades in which the ball gave me many joys and also some sadness I always had the dream of being World Champion and I didn’t want to stop trying, even though I knew it might never happen.”

His great dream has finally been fulfilled at the age of 35: “This Cup that we won is also for all those who did not achieve it in the previous World Cups that we played, like in 2014 in Brazil, where they all deserved it because of how they fought until the same final, they worked hard and wanted it as much as I did… And we deserved it even in that damn final.”

In his message he also had a few words in memory of Maradona, who passed away in November 2020 at the age of 60 after a life of lights and shadows: “It is also from Diego who encouraged us from heaven. And from all those who know it. they always bankrolled the National Team without looking so much at the result but rather the desire that we always put into it, also when things did not go as we wanted”.

In this sense, he only has words of appreciation for his teammates: “And of course, it is from all this beautiful group that was formed and from the coaching staff and all the people from the national team who, being anonymous, work day and night to make it easier for us.” . Messi continues on a cloud: “Many times failure is part of the journey and of learning, and without disappointment it is impossible for success to come. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. Let’s go Argentina!”
