Argentine Gustavo Marcaccio joins Rafa Nadal’s technical team

MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Argentine Gustavo Marcaccio becomes part of the technical team of the Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal, an addition that “will help a lot to continue the path” to the Balearic Islands, as announced by the number two in the world on Monday.

“I want to inform you of the incorporation of Gustavo Marcaccio to the technical team. Gustavo has been working at the Rafa Nadal Academy since April 2021 and I understand that he is a good addition to the team. I’m sure he will help us a lot to continue on the path. Welcome!” he informed Nadal with a message published on his social networks.

The Spaniard will continue in 2023 with a structure of three coaches, after this Friday he announced that the Barcelonan Francis Roig, one of his coaches since the beginning of his career, was leaving his coaching staff after 18 years “of work and friendship”.

“Francis is a great coach who knows tennis very well and has helped me a lot to get better. I only have words of gratitude and I wish him all the luck in the world in his new project,” said the number two in the world.

Argentine Marcaccio, who rose to 284th place in the ATP ranking in April 2004, has trained Giovanni Lapentti, Máximo González, Juan Mónaco, Guido Pella, Paula Ormaechea and Svetlana Kuznetsova. In addition, he was the ‘second’ coach of Argentina in the Davis Cup (2019-2021).
