Shakira responds to the Treasury: says she is “persecuted” for “exemplary purposes”

Shakirawhich will be tried for alleged fraud of 14.5 million euros to the Treasury between 2012 and 2014, has responded this Friday to the accusations through a forceful statement.

In their letter, the Barranquilla lawyers explain that their client “denounces the methods of the Treasury after paying more than 90 million euros and being persecuted even for years in which she did not spend even 60 days in Spain.”

The Molins law firm in Barcelona has also assured that great “media pressure” falls on her. All with the aim of “forcing” an agreement with the accusations and, at the same time, “getting her to plead guilty despite her innocence.”

In short, they maintain that they have used Shakira “for exemplary purposes” and that they have come to “violate” her right to privacy while investigating her for alleged tax evasion. They have already presented the defense brief in court.

It must be remembered that in September the judge sent the interpreter of Monotony for six alleged crimes against the Treasury. The Prosecutor’s Office asks to sentence her to eight years and two months in prison. The music star assures that she “has paid taxes worldwide for a global amount of 104 million euros, of which 90 have been paid to the Public Treasury.”

In this sense, “Shakira continues to maintain her firm will to comply with all her tax duties in Spain, as well as in all the countries in which she has resided or worked during her long professional career. Finally, Shakira wishes to express her absolute confidence in the independence of the Spanish Justice and his firm conviction that, after the trial, his full innocence will prevail”.

On a personal level, the singer has also been in the spotlight in recent months due to her breakup with Gerard Piqué. The two reached a long-awaited custody agreement for their two children a few weeks ago. Shakira will move with them to Miami, while the former Barça centre-back will be able to be with them up to ten days a month.
