This meeting, on the official agenda, has coincided with the broadcast of a new chapter of Corinna Larsen’s podcast series. Oblivious to the last pearl that the German has released and that expressly mentions her, the emeritus has attended her appointment in Burgos smiling and very focused on her work.

In the podcast sound series, german businesswoman has revealed an unnecessary episode in his quest for revenge. According to her account, she was visiting the Palacio de la Zarzuela and, at one point, Queen Sofía entered the room “with an angry face” and, looking towards her, gave her an unusual “I know who you are”.




Always serene and with a calm gesture, Doña Sofía has done her job and has shown her support for the Atapuerca paleontological project. At the beginning of the session, Queen Sofía had the opportunity to observe the most relevant finding of the 2022 excavation campaign, a part of the face of the first European found at the Sima del Elefante site, aged between 1, 2 and 1.4 million years.

Doña Sofía inaugurated the Foundation’s headquarters in Ibeas de Juarros in 2009. Since then, she has shown her support on numerous occasions. In 2010, when the University of Burgos awarded the Honoris Causa to the three co-directors of the sites and that same year it was in charge of officially opening the Museum of Human Evolution, an act in which it became interested in the curiosities hidden the Atapuerca deposits and the fossils found there.
