Assolim CN Mataró was proclaimed champion of the Supercopa de España Iberdrola 2022 this Wednesday by prevailing (9-10) in an intense final at Astralpool CN Sabadell.
The two greats of Spanish women’s water polo left everything for the title at the Joan Serra de Mataró, full of fans who first attended the host club’s tribute to an icon who is retiring like Marta Bach.
Halfway through the first quarter, the first goal came, from Anni Espar for the locals. Bertrán, in two meters, made it 0-2 but Irene González made the reply, although the great signing Rita Keszthelyi, with two goals, made it 2-4.
Astralpool CN Sabadell also signed and Elena Ruiz reduced the score again, in a moment of exchange that left it 6-6 at halftime. After the break, Maica and Van de Kraats scored the goals, without a clear dominator and with everything to decide in the last quarter. The final goal was from Keszthelyi, to break the 9-9 and, with the MVP under his arm, give Mataró the title.
