Week marked on the calendar of the official agenda of Casa Real. October 12, the National Holiday, is one of the most important institutional events of the year for Felipe VI and Doña Letizia. It comes after two long years of pandemic that took away the Hispanic celebrations and, instead of the traditional parade, military parades were designed in a very reduced format. The original pre-pandemic exhibition returns this year, with the participation of 4,000 soldiers. It will be in its original enclave, in the Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid.
It is the ninth parade for Don Felipe and Doña Letizia as Reyes. They will be accompanied by the infanta Sofía, alone, because Leonor is at her school in Wales.
In terms of style, the consort greatly pampers the look of October 12. It is one of the most analyzed of the year (along with the Princess of Asturias Awards, in Oviedo). Subject to continual scrutiny, her dressing room is constantly innovating. Her head signature for the National Holiday was Felipe Valera. It was her first choice. In recent years, moreover, she had resorted to Spanish red and pink.
The turning point occurred last year, when the monarch’s wife resigned from Varela to wear a dress with a pencil silhouette and a light blue tone by María Barragán, a designer with workshops in Almería and Madrid. This year for the National Holiday (finally without masks), a premiere dress is expected. The color: we bet on pink in a powdery tone or ink blue, which is one of her favorite colors.
In addition, there will be a reception at the Royal Palace, which has not been held since 2019. In 2020 it was unthinkable due to the Covid health regulations; and in 2021 a very reduced format was held, without apape and without huddles. This time, it also returns to normal. Greetings in the Throne Room and welcome in the Gala Dining Room.
