LEIPZIG (GERMANY), 9 Oct. (dpa/EP) –
Leipzig, a club that plays in the Bundesliga and Real Madrid’s rival in the Champions League group stage, announced this Sunday the signing of Norwegian goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, who will act as second after the injury of the starting goalkeeper, Peter Gulacsi.
Nyland, 32, was currently without a club and has experience in Germany, where he played for Ingolstadt. He is expected to be the replacement for Janis Blaswich, who in turn is filling the gap left by Gulacsi.
Leipzig captain Gulacsi tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the German club’s 3-1 Champions League win against Celtic Glasgow on Tuesday. It is not clear if he will be able to play again this season.
Leipzig could only sign a player without a contract until the next transfer window in January. Nyland meets this requirement because he did not renew at the end of last season with Reading, from the English second division.
