Alavés and Las Palmas remain undefeated and Sporting comes up

MADRID, 3 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Deportivo Alavés and UD Las Palmas drew (1-1) on matchday four of LaLiga SmartBank held this Saturday at the Mendizorroza Stadium, a point with which they continue to score in a high zone to which Sporting signed up from Gijon.

The duel in Vitoria fulfilled the expected script, with the Canarians owning possession and the Basques doing damage to the counterattack. The visitor’s dominance at the start took a jug of cold water with Abde’s goal in the 23rd minute, the first goal against for Las Palmas in this league start.

García Pimienta’s men found an equalizer with Marc Cardona after the break, the goal man for the Canaries, and both teams kept their weapons active until the end. Alavés and Las Palmas, two contenders for promotion, remain fourth and second with eight points, waiting for the day to end.

For its part, Sporting climbed to the top with those eight points, thanks to a serious performance against ‘Ponfe’ (1-3), where goals from Otero and Gragera in the first half put the three points on track for the Asturians. Agus Medina closed the gap but the team from El Toralín could not find a way to come back.

In addition, Villarreal B was placed in the promotion zone with their thrashing (3-0) to a Mirandés penultimate in the table and that Álex Martín was one less by two yellow cards in the first 10 minutes. For its part, Tenerife, finalist last year for promotion, added its first victory with a 1-0, thanks to both Borja Garcés, against Racing bottom with zero points.
