Davidovich savors the second round of the US Open again

MADRID, 2 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Alejandro Davidovich defeated Colombian Daniel Galán (6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4) this Friday to access the round of 16 of the US Open, the last ‘Grand Slam’, thus equaling his best finish in New York, achieved in 2020.

The man from Malaga had to overcome five sets in the second round and in his third match he was also challenged, finding the shooting and confidence that he did not achieve in Montreal or Cincinnati. The finalist this year in Monte Carlo had an aggressive and successful game that made him command again after giving up the second set.

Against a rival against whom he had never faced, Davidovich found himself with the ‘break’ in favor in the first game, an income that he defended until 6-4. The second set started with the same script, but this time Galán, debuting in the New York main draw, reacted to avoid a 2-0 draw and tied the match.

The Spaniard did not change his face and continued to hit with everything to prevent his rival from growing, again greatly outmatched in the third set. Later, Davidovich showed his desire to do something important in a ‘Grand Slam’, coming back from 1-4 to 6-4. The man from Malaga will have to continue upwards since he will face the Italian Matteo Berrettini or the Scotsman Andy Murray in the round of 16.
