MADRID, 25 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The national basketball coach, Sergio Scariolo, confessed that he sees the “improvement and effort” of his team after a “pretty good” performance this Wednesday against Iceland (87-57), analyzing with “perspective” every moment of the preparation for the Eurobasket in September.
“It was a pretty good game from our side. In the first half we moved the ball well, we found good combinations, we were strong defensively. Of course we still have to grow in our process of becoming a solid team, choose options better, improve in success percentages,” he said.
The Spanish coach assessed in a press conference at the Navarra Arena that his team is clear that they must improve their accuracy and outside shooting, without ever losing defensive intensity. “Very satisfied, the effort of the players is there, the improvement is there, although you have to put everything in perspective,” he said.
“Rivals cannot be compared, but I see the team working, knowing more and more what we have to do. We are a bit frustrated by many missed shots, but we have to keep looking for options, shoot and have confidence,” he added.
Scariolo explained that he is still waiting for the improvement of several players. “There are things in which we are good and in things that we are not yet. There are players who have not yet reached the best moment of physical condition. Players who are gradually entering a system that they had not practiced for a long time,” he pointed out.
“I see room for improvement and I see areas in which we have already improved a lot, and others that will not be our things, difficult passes and shots, moments of defensive relaxation, this is not our basketball. The more we reduce those moments, the better,” he added. .
