MADRID, 24 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Competition Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) canceled this Tuesday the yellow card that Villarreal striker Gerard Moreno received for celebrating his goal at the Cívitas Metropolitano last Sunday.
The striker was reprimanded by the referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea after he celebrated, according to the match minutes, “in an exalted way a goal causing a confrontation” with the spectators in the background attended by the international.
However, Villarreal claimed that there was “a manifest material error” since Moreno simply repeated the celebration he does when he scores and that he went to the ‘fancam’ that is put on in the stadiums to make “a gesture dedicated to his daughters” .
“In effect, from viewing the evidence provided by the club, it is possible to deduce that the reprimanded player did not carry out any action deserving of disciplinary reproach,” Competition pointed out in its resolution.
In addition, the agency sanctioned the Argentine side of Atlético de Madrid, Nahuel Molina, with a two-game sanction, expelled for a direct red card for hitting Alex Baena, the Espanyol defender Sergi Gómez, who also saw a red card for a blow to Rayista Sergio Camello, and Getafe’s coach, Quique Sánchez Flores.
