Daniel Holgado surprises with the Austrian pole in Moto3

MADRID, 20 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spanish Moto3 rider Daniel Holgado (KTM) took pole position this Saturday at the Austrian Grand Prix, surprising with the checkered flag to achieve his first qualifying win.

The 17-year-old from Valencia celebrated his first pole position in his debut season in the World Championship at the home track for his brand and team. The Red Bull Ring already seemed to have the accounts of the grid when a last big stage gave Holgado the first position by 10 thousandths over the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna).

The first row is completed by the Turkish Deniz Öncü (KTM), who sought pole after a good morning, leader of FP3, and showed the way to Holgado, current FIM CEV Repsol champion. In the fight for the World Cup, between the Spaniards from GasGas, Sergio García and Izan Guevara, the second will start from eighth position.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Championship did not have his best Saturday and will have to look for a comeback from eleventh position. Third in the World Cup, the Italian Densis Foggia (Honda), will start fifth with the option of reducing the disadvantage with the two Spaniards.
