BARCELONA, 12 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The UE Cornellà will play the home matches of the 2022/2023 season, in the First RFEF, at the RCDE Stadium of the RCD Espanyol after an agreement reached between both clubs and the Cornellà City Council, in a “historic step” for the club of the location.
“The UEC wishes to show its sincere gratitude to both RCD Espanyol, the UE Cornellà Foundation, and the Cornellà City Council for the efforts made and that have allowed this agreement,” the UE Cornellà announced in a statement.
The general director of Cornellà, Andrés Manzano, assured that playing next season in a LaLiga stadium is a “very important and historic” step.
“It will allow us to continue competing in the First Federation and, above all, continue to do so here in our city, which was one of our main objectives. The new regulations and economic limitations reduced the available options and finally we are very satisfied with the solution to the that has been achieved with the support of the City Council”, he celebrated.
The requirements of the RFEF to play in the First RFEF are, among others, to have a natural grass pitch and artificial competition lighting with a minimum power. Requirements that the Municipality of Cornellà did not meet.
For RCD Espanyol, this agreement shows that “once again” the ‘perica’ entity is willing to collaborate with Catalan teams that require their help. “The agreement responds to the club’s desire to expand collaboration in the institutional, social and sporting spheres between clubs and the Cornellà town hall,” explained the blue and white club.
