Bayern gives a good account of Leipzig and lifts the Super Cup

MADRID, 30 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Bayern Munich was proclaimed champion of the German Super Cup by beating Leipzig (3-5) this Saturday at their Red Bull Arena field, a tenth trophy in the tournament that came with more suspense than a 1-4 to 20 minutes from the end.

Julian Nagelsmann’s team swept away his rival in the first half and also had an answer for his rival’s threat of awakening in the second half. Bayern’s new signing, Sadio Mané, scored in his official debut, his second of the night, and had two others ruled out for offside.

The young Musiala opened the can and the Frenchman Pavard made it 0-3 just before the break. Leipzig took advantage of the changes, especially with the entry of the Spanish Dani Olmo, but, after cutting through Halstenberg, conceded Gnabry’s 1-4.

The final seemed set for a sentence but Bayern still struggled to lift the title, neglected at the back and with the rival’s attack of pride, which came close to drawing after goals from Nkunku, from a penalty, and Olmo himself. Leroy Sané made it 3-5 definitively at the end of a long discount (98′), with the rival overturned.
