MADRID, 24 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Marta Cardona has signed this Sunday for Atlético de Madrid, the club with which she signs until June 30, 2023 from Real Madrid, as announced by the rojiblanco team in a statement.

“Marta Cardona (Zaragoza, May 26, 1997) has become a new Atlético de Madrid Women’s player after the agreement reached between the player and our club. The Aragonese midfielder signs with our team until June 30, 2023”, Atletico reported.

Cardona trained at Zaragoza CFF, debuting with the first team in the 2011-2012 season. He remained in the club until 2017, the year in which he signed for Levante. After a season defending the Granota shirt, he joined the ranks of Real Sociedad, a team in which he played for two seasons and with which he won a Copa de la Reina.

In the 2020-2021 campaign, he signed for Real Madrid, playing in the Champions League. “The midfielder from Zaragoza is a fast player, who stands out for her mobility on the attacking front and has a great capacity in one-on-one,” highlighted the soccer player’s club.

In addition, Cardona was part of the team that participated in the Women’s European Championship in England, with a prominent role thanks to her goal against Denmark, which qualified ‘La Roja’ for the quarterfinals.

The footballer was excited about the challenge she will face defending the red and white shirt. “I feel very happy and very excited to start. It is a club that is a pioneer in women’s football and I am very excited to start working with the staff, with the players and for everything to start,” she stressed.
