The Spanish Repsol Honda rider Marc Márquez, eight times world champion, will begin undergoing physiotherapy sessions six weeks after having surgery on his right arm in the United States, and has taken “an important step” in his recovery process to return to the circuits.
Six weeks after going through the operating room, Marc Márquez underwent a postoperative review this Thursday at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid, where the medical team made up of doctors Joaquín Sánchez Sotelo, Samuel Antuña and Ángel Cotorro, was satisfied with the evolution of the right humerus.
Subsequently, Marc Márquez received the go-ahead to enter the next phase of his recovery and begin physiotherapy treatment for his right arm and cardiovascular training.
“We have taken an important step in the recovery process. In this second check-up, the doctors have confirmed that the humerus is consolidating correctly, with which we can start the physiotherapy of the right arm and cardiovascular training. I am very excited to be able to recover mobility in the arm to continue advancing in the recovery process and I want to thank the entire medical team for their treatment and care”, commented Márquez in statements to the Repsol Honda team.
For his part, Dr. Sánchez Sotelo, president of the Division of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, explained that the medical check-up carried out on the elder Márquez confirmed a “good clinical and radiological evolution that allows progress in right arm strength and mobility recovery program. Márquez will undergo another review in the next six weeks.
