The former Real Madrid player Jeffery Taylor published a letter on Tuesday to say goodbye to the whites’ supporters and has recognized that it is a moment that “he did not want to come” after seven seasons full of titles.
“That moment has come that I didn’t want to come. It’s time to say goodbye to my ‘family’ and it’s hard. When I arrived in Madrid seven years ago I never imagined that I would be here all this time. I have felt very welcome from day one. Real Madrid opened the doors for me after my Achilles tendon injury, they gave me an opportunity and for that I will always be grateful to the club,” Taylor wrote on Instagram.
“I am proud to have been part of 13 titles during my seven years at the club along with a lifetime of great memories on and off the pitch. I have always tried to do what the team needed from me, because I have valued winning more than any individual recognition,” added the naturalized Swedish forward.
“I believe that for a team to win championships it must have players who accept their roles and commit to playing them to the best of their ability. I have done it, I have left my soul for my teammates. I am grateful to have been able to share the track with Euroleague legends like Sergio Llull, Rudy, Felipe Reyes, Chapu Nocioni, Facu Campazzo, Luka Doncic, to name a few,” added Taylor.
Finally, the 33-year-old player also thanked “all the teammates” during his time at Real Madrid. “They were incredible players and excellent people. The experiences and lessons that I take with me are unforgettable and very valuable. I am leaving Madrid in peace and I have nothing in my heart but love for Real Madrid and for all its fans,” he concluded.
In his seven seasons as a madridista, Jeffery Taylor has won a total of 13 titles: one Euroleague, one Intercontinental Cup, four ACB Leagues, three Copas del Rey and four Spanish Super Cups.
During that time, the 33-year-old from Norrköping has become the second foreigner who has played the most games in the history of the white team, with a total of 463 games. Real Madrid wished him farewell “all the best to him and his whole family in this new stage of his life”.
