Ramis: “We played the match that Girona demanded of us”

MADRID, 12 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of CD Tenerife, Luis Miguel Ramis, confessed that the first leg of the final for promotion to LaLiga Santander this Saturday was “a meeting of nerves”, where they played the game that Girona demanded of them, without seeing the balance tilted to their please after 0-0.

“We have had a nervous encounter, at times of not wanting to make a mistake. It has been a competitive game, with them as clear dominators, but with little depth and situations in our area, which we have resolved very well,” he said at a press conference.

Despite not conceding a goal in Montilivi, the coach of the Canaries recognized that it was not a good game with the ball. “We could have exploited the possession of the ball better, but we were imprecise, especially in the first half. In situations in the opponent’s area, it seemed that we arrived with a greater sense of danger than the rival in ours”, he pointed out.

“Any result forced us to have another great match in Tenerife. We have to face it like the rest of the year, without wanting to go further than where we should go. Now what I want is for the players to rest well, the week will be long, and it will to be surrounded by many illusions and emotions. I will not allow any player to deviate from what he should”, he added.

After annulling Girona’s field factor, Ramis made it clear that they haven’t done anything yet and the goal is still ahead. “There has been nothing to celebrate, we have only played the game that Girona has demanded of us and we have responded well. The waste of the team has been spectacular. I am not happy with the game played with the ball, we can improve to do more damage. Furthermore, we must be more precise in transitions,” he insisted.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen. We’re going to have to play a very good game and the feeling I have is that we have to score. I don’t know how to manage a tie to look for a tie, but if it comes out it will come out. I want what I want and I’m going to pursue until the end. We will fight it with the help of all the people around us and with the faith that this team has,” he concluded.
