Athletes from Madrid Urban Sports visit an institute in Arganzuela to encourage the new generations

MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Athletes who will participate in the Madrid Urban Sports (MUS), which will be held between June 10 and 12 in Madrid, have been present this Wednesday at the IES Juan de la Cierva institute in Arganzuela to give a master class to the students on skate and ‘breakdance’, with the aim of encouraging new generations to practice urban sports.

On this occasion, the councilor for Sport of the Madrid City Council, Sofía Miranda, and the councilor for Arganzuela, Cayetana Hernández de la Riva, were present at the master class that the second year ESO students of the IES Juan de la Riva received. Cierva by several Spanish athletes.

Ana ‘Furia’ Ortega, Spanish breakdance champion, and Marc Clavero ‘Clav’ have taught the students tricks and movements of their modality so that the new generations get closer to a sport that will be Olympic in Paris 2024. Quini González, from the Spanish skate team, did the same with his sport, which they were able to try out in the school’s courtyard.

This visit is an action framed within the objective set by the Delegated Sports Area that all major events held in the capital have a reflection on grassroots sports, in order to strengthen ties with the new generations.

Sofía Miranda has described this action as valuable “so that young people get hooked on new urban sports and can live these experiences hand in hand with great athletes, professionals of the various modalities”.
