The electoral process for the presidency of Athletic is going through the expected channels. The three candidatesArechabaleta, Barkala y Uriarte– yesterday delivered the necessary endorsements to become candidates next Thursday, when the Electoral Board will officially communicate the final names of the people who will attend the elections that will be held on June 24 for the first time in history in San Mames.
From there the campaign itself will begin, although it can be said that we are already immersed in it. Everyone hopes that those fourteen days -from 9 to 23, both included- will run normally and gracefully, without crosses of accusations between the presidential candidates and without the use of bad arts, as befits a club like Athletic. The partners deserve to be explained the projects without muddying the campaign and also the names of the new sports director, coach and possible reinforcements of the first team, if there are any, which I highly doubt, at least of international footballers.
It is true that the project is very important for the future, but in football and also in Athletic it is about overcoming the rival in the game, defending better and scoring more goals and that is something for those who jump onto the pitch and the one on the bench. So far, the three candidates have not put names on the table. That will come from now. It will undoubtedly be what will decant the vote of the partners to one side or the other.
