Alonso: “Movie things are happening to us”

MADRID, 24 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) has assured that “movie things” are happening to them at the beginning of the season, such as the touch this Sunday with the German Mick Schumacher in the first lap of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix that has forced to abandon the race, although he has appealed to think optimistically about future appointments.

“Once again we had quite bad luck due to factors that were not in our hands, such as Mick touching us or caressing us, because it was not even a strong blow. He completely destroyed our car. These are things that seem like something out of a movie but that are happening all now at this start of the season,” he told DAZN.

In addition, the Asturian believes that the threat of rain could have given him opportunities in the race if he had not retired. “There were opportunities with the changing conditions that we are seeing. When you start in the middle, more things can also happen. Yesterday we saw that everyone touches each other at the start, everything happens; they are indestructible cars, except ours, which ends up breaking to pieces. Now nothing can be done. You have to think positive and in Miami it will be a better race,” he said.

In spite of everything, Alonso invited us to think about the next United States Grand Prix. “We have to think about the next one, there are still 19 races left. Last year after Imola we had only one point, the year had started in a negative way and we finished the year very well and strong. I hope we can repeat that,” he concluded.
