Eibar adds three points with a flavor of promotion

MADRID, 23 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Eibar added three gold points to consolidate its status as leader in the SmartBank League after beating Málaga (1-3) in a match on matchday 37 that allows it to extend its lead at the top of the table while waiting for its immediate pursuers, Almería and Valladolid, play their games this Sunday and Monday.

At La Rosaleda, Gaizka Garitano’s team knew how to recover from Brandon Thomas’s early goal to send a message to people from Pucelanos and Almeria. The first place is very expensive and that ticket seems to have a name. Before the break, José Corpas established the equalizer from the penalty spot and gave wings to the gunsmiths for the final act.

It was then that Fran Sol, who had been in the field for two minutes, made it 1-2 with a beautiful header in ’78 and finished off his great performance with the final 1-3 in added time. Before, the referee needed up to five minutes to annul a goal by Fernando Llorente. Eibar dedicated the victory to their player Stoichkov, who was unable to participate due to the recent death of his father.

In Cartagonova, Girona received a good slap (3-0) that stopped their excellent streak after adding 18 of the last 21 points. Míchel’s team was always at the mercy of an ‘Efesé’ who is once again excited about reaching the ‘playoffs’. The Albinegros are ninth to five points after signing a very serious game that they always had control of.

Within a quarter of an hour Cartagena were already winning with goals from Pablo Vázquez and the eternal Rubén Castro, who already has 17 goals this season, while De Blasis -assisted by Delmás- closed the account after 63 minutes. Girona will remain fifth no matter what happens in the rest of the day.

In addition, Ponferradina added three vital points to rejoin the ‘playoff’ after sinking Fuenlabrada in a crazy game (2-3) with controversy at the end. The men from Madrid made it 2-0 with goals from Kanté and Bouldini a few minutes before the break, but the Bercians never gave up and ended up coming back in added time.

Jon Pérez Bolo’s men had the first opportunity to close the gap with a penalty missed by Naranjo -which required the intervention of the VAR- and it was not until minute 88 when Sergi Enrich closed the gap. Pascanu in ’92 tied the match and Dani Ojeda, in 100′ -seven were added- unleashed madness for ‘Ponfe’.

José Ramón Sandoval’s men, highly critical of the referees at a press conference, ended up without a goalkeeper after Belman’s expulsion in the final minutes and are stuck in penultimate position with 29 points, 12 shy of being saved by Sporting de Gijón .

For its part, Real Sociedad B continues to believe in permanence after beating Amorebieta (2-1) with goals from Álex Sola and Roberto López, who scored from a penalty in the extension of the first act. Gorka Guruzeta closed the gap for the visitors who will continue -just like ‘txuri urdines’- seven points away from coming out of the fire.
