MADRID, 19 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The defender of FC Barcelona and president of Kosmos, Gerard Piqué, made it clear that any operation of his company with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is “totally legal” and that “the only illegal” of everything that has come to the light this Monday “is to take audios and filter them by interest”.
According to some audios published by ‘El Confidencial’, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, and Piqué himself would have agreed a commission of 24 million euros to take the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia.
“‘El Confidencial’ called me a week ago and they told me that this is going to come out. I told them that I didn’t care, I don’t have to hide from anything, we are talking about something that is totally legal. People can doubt whether is normally correct or if there is a conflict of interest, but what is illegal is to take private audios and filter them by interest, that you don’t have to be a fool to know who may be behind it”, said Gerard Piqué at a press conference through his ‘Twitch’ channel.
The center-back, who recalled that the news of the agreement with Kosmos and the commission “already came out in 2019”, did not want to enter into this controversy about who was the person interested in bringing this to light. “I am not going to name anyone and let’s not mention Javier (Tebas), who also does things with LaLiga or UEFA. When you bring a business it is for everyone, that is how the business works, what happens is that this is a country used to thinking bad,” he remarked.
“I don’t want to think about whether they are going after me or the RFEF, this is a malicious leak. Some audios are used out of context to create news, the news is that audios have been leaked illegally,” he added. .
