The rojiblanco goalkeeper traveled with the first team to Villarreal and played the next day with Bilbao Athletic after more than a month without competing
Marcelino surprised last Friday by including Julen Agirrezabala in the squad for the match against Villarreal instead of Jokin Ezkieta. The young red-and-white goalkeeper watched the duel against Emery’s men from the bench and the next day he worked under the sticks with Bilbao Athletic in the Sunday duel against Deportivo in Lezama.
Since elimination from the Cup in the semi-final second leg at Mestalla, a clash played on March 2, the Errenteria goalkeeper had not played any more minutes between the sticks as a result of a shoulder injury.
Agirrezabala made it clear on his return to competition his quality as a goalkeeper. The team from Coruña put him to the test before and after the break and the Atletico goalkeeper, despite not having too much work, responded correctly in several plays that could tilt the match in favor of the visiting team. We will have to see what Marcelino’s intentions are for this weekend.
